The Baltimore Orioles are at a standstill in negotiations with free agent first baseman Adam LaRoche and looking at other alternatives.
LaRoche wants a big deal from the Orioles, and Baltimore is not willing to overpay for a player who doesn’t have much leverage in the free agent market.
Derek Lee remains a possibility at first base and is some ways the team’s preference, but he seems unwilling to come to Baltimore.
Lee would command just a one-year deal, but he seems to want to avoid the losing culture in Charm City at all costs. (Read More…)

The Baltimore Orioles have acquired third baseman Mark Reynolds from the Arizona Diamondbacks for two pitchers.
The O’s have traded reliever David Hernandez and prospect Kam Mickolio, who came over in the Erik Bedard trade.
Reynolds hit below .200 last year and lead the league in strikeouts but played injured for part of the season.
The Orioles believe that his defense is improving at third base and he is due for a bounce-back year at the plate. (Read More…)
