The Baltimore Orioles have decided to shut down pitcher Jake Arrieta despite his pleas to finish out the season.
Arrieta was over his previous high in innings pitched in a season by close to 30, which is the number the Orioles don’t like to go over with their young pitchers.
In addition, the Orioles found out that Arrieta has a bone spur in his pitching elbow and want him to have surgery.
Arrieta said he knew about the bone spur since his college days but that it has never affected him on the mound. (Read More…)

The Baltimore Orioles have won four series in a row, marking the first time they have done that since 2004.
The team continues to play good baseball and still has the best record in the American League East since the beginning of August.
This month has been particularly impressive thus far because the O’s schedule has been decidedly more difficult.
It will stay that way over the final three weeks as the team continues to battle other A.L. East opponents. (Read More…)

The Baltimore Orioles used a dominant performance from Jeremy Guthrie for a 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels.
Guthrie pitched into the ninth inning before the bullpen come on in relief to close the door on a Los Angeles rally.
Matt Wieters produced the lone run of the game with a sacrifice fly, which made up for a blown call at the plate that cost the O’s their first run earlier in the contest.
With the win, the Orioles completed their first ever season sweep of the Angels, beating them all six times this year. (Read More…)
