Angelos turns down Ripken for front office job
Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos has turned down former star Cal Ripken’s hopes of landing a position in the front office.
Ripken went to general manager Andy MacPhail and inquired about getting back into baseball with a position in the team’s front office.
MacPhail agreed that Ripken would be an asset, lending his baseball knowledge while getting the opportunity to learn the nuances of a front office position.
MacPhail went to Angelos with the proposal, but the owner rejected it on the grounds that he didn’t want Ripken to receive credit when the team returned to prominence.
You would think the last thing on Angelos’ mind is concern over who gets credit when the team is good again considering their dismal start to the season.
